Cultural Capital and Enrichment

What is Cultural Capital?

The Ofsted toolkit encourages schools to consider how they develop their children’s cultural capital to help them succeed in life:

As part of making their judgements, inspectors will consider the extent to which schools are equipping pupils with the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life. Our understanding of ‘knowledge and cultural capital’ is summarised as:

‘Cultural Capital is the essential knowledge, behaviours, and skills children need to become successful, educated citizens in a diverse society.’

How is the children’s Cultural Capital developed at Kingsland CE Primary School?

At Kingsland CE Primary School we are proud to offer a rich and vibrant curriculum for all our children. Our units of work are carefully planned and sequenced taking into account our five-class mixed-aged structure, and include numerous opportunities for children to develop cultural capital. Our curriculum is underpinned by our Christian school vision and values which lead our intentions throughout the curriculum.
