Class 1

Miss Corrick

Having taught in numerous primary schools and many year groups across the county in her stint as a supply teacher, Miss Corrick has recently settled in to teaching Class One at Kingsland CE Primary School. She studied Education Studies with Sociology at the University of Chester, before starting her Post Graduate Certificate in Education in 2018 at the University of Worcester and fulfilling her lifelong ambition of becoming a teacher. Miss Corrick brings with her a wealth of knowledge from across the primary school age range, meaning that she knows exactly where the children in Class One need to be by the time they are ready to start Key Stage 1. She is extremely passionate about children’s well-being and sees a positive school-home relationship as vitally important.

Everyone in Class One is extremely well supported by Mrs Davis (Higher Level Teaching Assistant), who brings lots of exciting ideas, as well as some amusing songs and rhymes, to the classroom. She originally qualified as an NNEB and has more recently completed a Foundation Degree in Early Years.

Class One is a vibrant, fun and exciting environment where children can safely take risks in order to progress in their learning journeys. Resilience and strength, as well as confidence and expressing individuality through all activities, are strongly encouraged. Children will have opportunities to explore the local area, take up different lives in the Role Play area, fulfil their passions and creativity in art areas, and develop a love for reading and writing in the Jungle Reading Corner and Messaging Centre. The classroom is bright and cheerful, full of learning opportunities of exploration and messy play!

A particular favourite day within Class One so far was Superhero Day! The children (and staff) came to school dressed as their favourite superhero and spent the day learning lots about real life superheroes. Alongside this, the children had opportunities to: Role Play in the Superhero Headquarters, bake superhero cupcakes and make superhero sandwiches, create superhero cuffs and masks, partake in their very own Superhero Movie and submerge themselves in lots of superhero stories. This immersion within various worlds is exactly the sort of experiential learning that Class One thrive on and enjoy the most!
